Senior Account Executive

Kevin Chaffee is a senior account executive at Qorvis Communications focusing on public and media relations and events management for U.S. and international clients. He planned VIP attendance and media strategy for the 25th anniversary gala of the Smithsonian Institution’s Arthur M. Sackler Gallery of Art, the 2015 Smithsonian Institution National Folklife Festival the Washington National Opera and foreign embassies.

As senior editor of Washington Life Magazine since 1999, Chaffee assigns reporting and editing and oversees all materials prior to publication. His travel articles have included stories from numerous countries. He also helps plan and execute the publication’s many social events, among them its 15th and 25th anniversary celebrations.

From 1991 until 2008, Chaffee was an arts and features editor of The Washington Times, where he contributed more than 1,000 articles on the social, cultural, diplomatic and philanthropic scenes in the nation’s capital. Publications for which he has written also include The New York Times, Town & Country, the Baltimore Sun, Washington Monthly and George magazine.

Chaffee was a speechwriter and communications specialist during the Reagan Administration for officials at the Cabinet and sub-Cabinet level. He edited and contributed to the travel book, Fifty Maps of Washington, D.C. and contributed to three successive editions of The Almanac of American Politics. He was the founding managing editor of Campaigns & Elections and authored multiple news-breaking research projects for the Center for Public Integrity and the Citizens Research Foundation that were widely seen to have helped reform campaign finance abuses. He has consulted for many other organizations and institutions, including Congressional Quarterly, National Journal and the Electronics Industry Association.

In the arts, Chaffee was assistant screenwriter for The Walker, a consultant and fundraiser for the Dance Theatre of Harlem, a trustee of The Source Theatre, a board member of the Washington Project for the Arts and an advisor to Love Fútbol.

Chaffee has A.B. and M.A. degrees from Georgetown University and an M.A. degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.
